The process to get started is pretty simple!

First, identify a member of your community (friend, family, etc.) that wants to be your DSP.  A DSP can be ANYONE you choose…  The only requirement is that they must submit to a background check, and not have any of the State Disqualifying Offenses listed here.  HomeChoice will take anyone you like through the training to become your DSP, all they have to do is start the application here.  Some of the best places to find great DSP's are from people you already know, or places you frequently visit.  People like extended family members, neighbors, friends, advocates, etc. all make excellent DSP's.  Some great places to find DSP's are Churches, Schools, Social Clubs, etc. or anywhere there are people who know you the best.  With a very competitive pay of $18.50 per hour, recruiting a great DSP should come easy.

Once you have a DSP identified, Sign-Up is easy, just select the Sign Up tab from this site and fill out the enrollment form.  When you click the "Submit" button your information will be sent to our Program Managers at HomeChoice and they will work with you and your SSA to verify eligibility and complete your enrolment.  For HomeChoice to be able to hire your Caregiver and allow them to work with you, your SSA will need to add HomeChoice as a Provider on your PAWS.  This is a very common request and should not take any longer than 2 weeks to complete.

After the DSP has submitted all requirements and is hired, and the PAWS has been enrolled by the county, you are ready to begin utilizing your DSP for supports.  The authorized hours are input into the system, and your DSP can create a schedule when requested to work.  You will have access to a family portal, where you can review all care notes as well as see how many hours are left for your authorization.
